If you’ve ever stepped through the portal into the past at Back in Time Prague, you already know it’s not an ordinary exhibition. It’s a journey. A different way of meeting Prague. A story of two siblings who accidentally activate a time machine and find themselves in the 9th century. Back in Time Prague is a place where history breathes, technology speaks, and the city literally unfolds beneath your feet.

But behind every scene hides something most visitors never notice. Here are the top fun facts that make Back in Time Prague one of the most unique attractions in the Czech Republic.

And if you haven’t visited Back in Time Prague yet… here’s a taste that will definitely spark your curiosity — and maybe even convince you to step inside.

Our virtual guides are more famous than you think

Does the face of one of the siblings, Bee, look familiar to you? His role is played by Jakub Jenčík, a popular young actor known from films such as Czech famous comedies Vyšehrad 1 and Vyšehrad 2. During the very first casting, he instantly clicked with his “sister” Tee, brilliantly portrayed by Bára Váchová, a member of the drama ensemble at the Ústí nad Labem theatre. She is currently filming the lead role in an upcoming movie, so you’ll soon see her face in a completely new context. Bára also appeared in the international film One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn.

The time machine is real!

The scene where the siblings activate the time machine was filmed inside the Zwentendorf nuclear power plant in Austria. Built in the late 1970s, it was fully completed but never put into operation — its launch was blocked by a referendum on November 5, 1978, in which a narrow majority voted against nuclear energy. Today, the power plant serves as a museum, and you can explore it in full with a guided tour.

The hologram at Back in Time: a unique projection you won’t see anywhere else in Prague

The holographic projection at Back in Time is among the most advanced installations of its kind in the Czech Republic. Thanks to the combination with spatial audio, the hologram feels exceptionally realistic and becomes a natural part of the scene. It’s an integral storytelling element that visitors perceive effortlessly.

The result is a projection that is truly unique in its scale, quality, and use within a narrative-driven attraction in the Czech Republic.

The curtain depicting 14th-century Prague is an original artwork you won’t find anywhere else

The curtain in the Charles IV room shows what Prague and Prague Castle looked like during his reign. It is not a reproduction of a historical drawing — it was created specifically for Back in Time by artist Jakub Prantl. In addition to historical accuracy, it is painted in the artistic style of the 14th century. It is an original piece you will find only here.

The Golem room literally smells like the Renaissance

In the Golem room, temperature, humidity, and even the scent of the Renaissance are carefully controlled using specialized aroma generators. The Golem itself was created exclusively for our attraction and is an original work. Its movement is driven by a special mechanical system that can be reprogrammed, meaning its gestures may evolve in the future. The body was crafted by talented artists from the film industry who worked on blockbusters like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.
